Misti Norris’ menu may be scribbled on a chalkboard, and her wine list may be strictly BYOB, but ordering the creative small dishes she serves on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Sunday — when Petra turns into a noon-to-9:30 p.m. counter-service operation — is one of the most exciting ways to dine in the city. Step into the provisional dining room, located in a former filling station in East Dallas, and choose among the Snacks, Noods (noodle dishes), Meatums (charcuterie) and Desserts. Every morsel is made in-house and, except for the $30 charcuterie board, all of it is $15 or less. Favorites include the pastas, the pig tails and — trust us — the crispy chicken hearts. --Michalene Busico/Restaurant Critic
