Brick and Bones is fairly bare-bones — a dive bar in deepest Deep Ellum. But it turns out one stellar thing: terrific fried chicken. The meat is marinated, lightly battered, and carefully fried, producing an unusually airy bird, served regular or spicy. There are some tasty appetizers and sides, including the addictive chicken chicharrones, the deviled eggs, and the jalapeño biscuits and gravy. And that’s about it for food. But there’s also a list of inventive house cocktails with names like the Boris Badenov and the Launchpad McQuack. Dinner only; closed Monday. Full bar, a dozen or so wines by the glass, and two dozen beers. Mark Vamos/Guide
