Former Parkland dietitian Navin Hariprasad has opened a to-go shop focused on healthy Indian and Pakistani cuisine. Spice in the City, as it’s called, is downtown Dallas’ only all-Indian restaurant and specializes in to-go dishes for lunch and dinner such as chicken tikka masala and chicken curry, with catering for special events also available.

Hariprasad, who spent several years focused on cardiovascular health at Parkland, says one recurring problem was that patients with special dietary needs were unable to find or afford the foods that would keep them healthy. His meals at Spice in the City will be appropriate for those wanting to eat a diabetic-friendly or heart-healthy meal — or anyone who wants to be fit. He also offers a dietitian-approved meal plan program to help people learn how to eat better. Takeout only. — Sarah Blaskovich/DallasNews.com
