Urban Taco has hopped from one storefront in Mockingbird Station to another.
The restaurant closed on Aug. 31 and re-opens Oct. 18 in a new suite number, within the same Dallas shopping complex. It's closer to the Angelika movie theater and is a bigger space, with a patio.
"After 10 years in business, we felt it was perfect timing to gain more square footage and add a patio but stay in the same area," says Markus Pinyero, who created the company when he was 24 years old.
Urban Taco is now operated by Del Sur Restaurant Group, which also is behind Hook Line & Sinker and Plano's new offshoot, Hookline, in addition to two Urban Tacos in Dallas. The Urban Taco in Uptown Dallas is not affected by the Mockingbird Station move.
Urban Taco is known for its long list of great salsa -- jalapeño zucchini, avocado lime crema, poblano pepita pesto, to name a few -- as well as its tacos like al pastor, carnitas and barbacoa.
Urban Taco is now located in Suite 105 at Mockingbird Station, 5321 E. Mockingbird Lane in Dallas.
