'The Amazing Race' is scouting for Dallas-area contestants

The Amazing Race is looking for teams of two to audition for the CBS reality TV show.

News of a casting call landed just as The Amazing Race's latest season premieres on Wednesday, April 17 on CBS. No Dallas-area contestants will be on the upcoming season, though it will feature three people from other parts of Texas. (And it's not a traditional Amazing Race, as this one pits former contestants from Big Brother, Survivor and The Amazing Race against one another.)

Hopeful contestants for an upcoming season of The Amazing Race can join the casting call from 2 to 7 p.m. May 1 at Kartland Performance Indoor Raceway, 10550 John W. Elliott Drive in Frisco. Duos will record a video on-site, explaining why they should be on the show. Find tips and show rules here.

The Amazing Race has picked North Texans before. Mother-daughter Marty Cobb and Hagan Parkman and best friends Josh Ahern and Tanner Kloven (who competed as "Team Texas") have competed in the past few years. Winners from D-FW include Emily "Starr" Spangler, from Fort Worth (who won with partner Nick Spangler, from New York) in Season 13; and Cody Nickson, from Plano (who won with partner Jessica Graf, from Los Angeles) in Season 30.

The Amazing Race is both a physical and a mental show anchored by two-person teams who are friends, cousins, spouses and more. The show premiered on TV in 2001 and is hosted by New Zealander Phil Keoghan.
