American Idol will return March 11 with two local contestants front and center.
Ron Bultongez of Plano and Harper Grace of McKinney will be featured on the premiere of the reality TV singing competition on ABC at 7 p.m. They will audition in front of an all-star judging panel that includes Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.
Ryan Seacrest will return as host of the series that began on Fox in 2002 and said "Good Night, America ... for now" in 2016.
Fans will gather on March 11 at Plano Kitchen and Bar (1010 E. 15th St., Plano) for a watch party called "Cheering for Ron," but there are 13 North Texans who "may be featured" on the series, according to a statement.
That also includes Caroline Kraddick, the daughter of DJ and philanthropist Kidd Kraddick. She is also a member of the team on Kidd Kraddick Morning Show, the spokesperson for The Kraddick Foundation and runs a lifestyle website.
The others are: Brittany Holmes of Aubrey; Griffin Tucker of Carrollton; Tippy Balady, Chameka Devrajai Scott and Skylar Dayne Capriles of Dallas; Samuel James and Drake Milligan of Fort Worth; Kristyn Harris of McKinney; Kassy Levels of Richardson; and Juliana Madrid of Southlake.
North Texans sure know how to make it hard for fans to pick a favorite in on-air singing competitions. Look at it this way: With so many contenders from our neck of the woods, the odds are ever in our favor.
