Meet the Dallas women vying for love on upcoming season of 'The Bachelor'

The New Year marks the beginning of a new season of The Bachelor. I know, I can hardly believe it, either.

Beginning Jan. 1, viewers will follow Arie Luyendyk Jr. on his journey to find love among 29 eligible single women -- four of whom are named Lauren. Prepare your Champagne hangover for that.

You may be asking yourself, "Wait a minute -- who is Arie? Was he on Rachel Lindsay's season of The Bachelorette?" Don't worry, you're not crazy.

Or with:

Luyendyk was not a contestant on Rachel Lindsay's season, or JoJo Fletcher's season before her. He actually competed in hopes of winning bachelorette Emily Maynard's heart -- in 2012. For reference, that's the same season Dallasite Sean Lowe joined the franchise. He would go on to star as The Bachelor the following year and marry Catherine Giudici, the woman he met on the show. (The two now live in Dallas, have an adorable son named Sam and are expecting a second kiddo.)

Six years in reality TV time? That's like a lifetime. ABC seems to have abandoned its current audience with such a choice, but Luyendyk's name may sound familiar to some, and not because of the reality dating series. His dad is famous Formula One racecar driver and two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Arie Luyendyk Sr.

Luyendyk Jr. also went on to race cars before settling into a career in real estate.

Now 36 years old, he's looking to cross the finish line on his love life, and there's one native Dallasite in the running.

Lauren Schleyer is senior public relations and social media manager at AT&T in Dallas, according to her LinkedIn profile. The 31-year-old is a self proclaimed nerd, whose favorite author is J.K. Rowling -- because Harry Potter, duh.

She's also a fan of theater -- "If I got to see Hamilton, I'd die," says her Bachelor profile -- and otters because they swim around and cuddle all day. If she could be anyone for a day, Lauren would be any member of Taylor Swift's girl squad, "literally."

Peep her Instagram account and you'll notice she also likes mimosas (right on) and pursing her lips for the camera (not cute).

There are a few other women with Dallas connections, though they don't list Big D as their hometowns. And, yes, there's another Lauren.

Lauren Burnham hails from Virginia Beach, Va., but currently works as a sales executive for Vonage Business here in Dallas, according to her LinkedIn profile. A second-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, the 25-year-old loves to watch Real Housewives and listen to Taylor Swift because "basic" is her middle name.

This Okie from Lawton, Okla. values commitment in a marriage and "being your whole, true, imperfect self with someone ... flaws and all!" Which is good news if she can find someone to reciprocate that feeling since she also admitted to liking Nickelback in her Bachelor profile. Ali, a personal stylist, currently resides in Dallas and works for the Trunk Club, which offers personal shopping services.
