'The Amazing Race' will hold an open casting call in Carrollton on Friday, Aug. 18

The Amazing Race is looking for a few good duos in Carrollton on Friday, Aug. 18.

CBS 11 will host an open casting call for the Emmy-winning reality TV competition show in which teams of two race around the world. Prospective teams will be able to record a video that will go to the casting directors.

The call will be from 2 to 5 p.m. at Sam Pack's Five Star Chevrolet, 1735 S. I-35E, in Carrollton.

Producers have a laundry list of things they're looking for in candidates: strong-willed, adventurous, outgoing, physically and mentally adept, etc. I especially like "interesting lifestyles." Not exactly sure what it means -- it's probably deliberately nebulous for inclusiveness -- but I like it.

Applicants must be 21 years or older, U.S. citizens who live in the United States and be willing to go through a background check, among other things. If you miss this one, you can always submit online to the official casting website, theamazingracecasting.com.

Last season, realtor Ashton Theiss of Fort Worth was a contestant.

She and her partner, Wall Street analyst Vanck Zhu of New York City, were the fifth duo eliminated. It was the first time in 29 seasons that competitors were paired with strangers for the long, strange trip.
