Dallas PD detectives' docuseries 'Live PD' gets order for more episodes on A&E

A&E has ordered more episodes of Live PD, which featured retired Dallas police detective Rich Emberlin and his longtime partner, DPD detective Kevin Jackson, as in-studio analysts.

The show was originally presented as an eight-part documentary series.

Its run has been extended to 21 episodes in its first season.

Live PD takes viewers along for the ride as police "inside the country's busiest police forces" patrol. Police action in rural and urban communities will be seen through the lens of dash cams and "fixed rig and handheld cameras."

Emberlin and Jackson helped to guide the discussion, offering insights gleaned from years serving in different types of units.

Emberlin also appears in Real Housewives of Dallas --he's LeeAnne Locken's boyfriend -- and was in Dallas SWAT and The First 48.

ABC News chief legal analyst Dan Abrams is host of the show that was nominated for a Director's Guild Award in for outstanding directorial achievement in reality programs.

New episodes will air Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. on A&E.
