'Amazing Race' recap: You'd think a couple of Texans would know how to grill, saddle a polo pony

Look closely and it appears Argentina is getting a little tired of The Amazing Race.

The locals don't smile. Dogs everywhere seem to be wanting these crazy Americans to find somewhere else to try their horrible attempts at Spanish.

That brings us to the name of this week's episode, Where My Dogs At? Watching promos, I got a little worried when I saw some of the carcasses that were part of the teams' assigned tasks.  But, thankfully, it wasn't what I thought.

From the previous episode, we were left wondering whether Tanner Kloven of #TeamTexas could cope with a pulled hamstring. From the promos, you knew polo was part of the game, so you were also left wondering whether #TeamTexas was going to bonk their nemesis, Justin Scheman of #TheGreenTeam, over his head with a mallet.

Tasks to collect clues: The first is called Road Block: Gaucho Grill in which contestants must properly skewer and position racks of lamb and beef sides. It must be done to the thumbs-up approval of local gauchos. Up next is Detour: Horse or Carriage. In the horse drill, the teams must properly saddle a fake polo horse on wheels, again to the thumbs-up approval of a local. In the carriage drill, the teams must dust off a carriage and push it into the plaza where there's a lot of unconvincing festival dancing going on when the cameras switch on.

The Pit Stop: It's at Museo Gauchesco where a weathered gaucho is standing with host Phil Keoghan.

Who finished first: #TeamTexas' Josh and Tanner barely beat #TheGreenTeam. For winning, Josh and Tanner win a trip to Cambodia.

Who's out: #TheDancers, who seemed to struggle on each episode. This time, they couldn't catch up. At the Pit Stop, a bunch of Argentine dancers surrounded them. The scene dissolves into a dance party with Ernest and Jim teaching the locals how to do the worm.

Texas connection: You'd expect a little better from Josh and Tanner on the tasks. All Texans are supposed to be born grilling specialists, so it was surprising to see them struggle at the Gaucho Grill. Also, with so many polo clubs in North Texas, you'd think they could do a better job of saddling a polo pony and knowing that a "mouth thing" is a bit. Those tasks seemed like gimmes for Texans.

Next week: It looks like we're done with South America and it's on to Africa. The promos show a woman spitting in the contestants' faces, presumably as part of a task. Could be good news for Justin because spit would hide his constant tears. Oooh, did I just type that out loud?

A call for more Texans? CBS announced on the show Sunday night that it was having tryouts in Garland for the next season of The Amazing Race. The tryouts are scheduled from 2 to 7 p.m. Oct. 30 at Randall Reed's Prestige Ford,  3601 S. Shiloh Road.
