Dancing With The Stars premieres its 20th season in a little less than three weeks, and the new cast was announced today on Good Morning America.
Among the celebrity hopefuls in the new cast is North Texas' own Nastia Liukin, the former Olympic gymnast who took home five medals from the 2008 Beijing Summer Games. Liukin grew up in Plano and trained at WOGA gymnastics academy, co-owned by her dad, Valeri. Liukin's competition includes some big names: Michael Sam, the first openly gay NFL player who spent some time on the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad; music legend Patti LaBelle; and actress Suzanne Somers, among others.
Liukin will be paired with pro Derek Hough, who according to Yahoo had previously announced that he wouldn't be taking part this season because of his schedule. Michael Sam will be dancing with Peta Murgatroyd.
The cast includes one non-celebrity dancer: Iraq War veteran Noah Galloway, who lost part of his left arm and left leg in an IED attack.
