After Midwest drama, North Texan Carly Waddell says goodbye to ‘The Bachelor’

This week's way too long, double-night feature of The Bachelor ended in heartbreak for Arlington woman Carly Waddell after she was eliminated following a dramatic trip to Iowa, bachelor Chris Soules' home state.

Although she and the bachelor shared a connection in weeks passed, it seemed apparent in the most recent episode the drama and “reality” of the show had gotten to her. Waddell’s main issue: Britt Nilsson, one of this season’s front runners who Waddell considered two-faced and ungenuine.

When Soules took Waddell, Nilsson and now top-three finalist Kaitlyn Bristowe on a date ice skating in Des Moines, the North Texas native used her one-on-one time to warn the bachelor of Nilsson’s facade. Several times during the episode, crews interviewed Waddell solo about her dislike for her competitor and once she even drew Nilsson’s face on her hand and role-played a conversation. (As if there were any doubts being on this show drives people to the crazy train.)

Once the group date blew up in Nilsson’s face, our cute blonde cruise ship singer turned vindictive, saying at one point “Even if I go home now, I feel like I have done my duty” by unveiling Nilsson’s fake attitude. Seriously, it was all she could talk about.

Ultimately, Soules let go of both girls ahead of the hometown dates. In a blog post on People.com, the bachelor said his goodbye with Waddell was difficult.

“I knew how hard her past relationships had been, and I didn’t want to be yet another man to disappoint her. But I had to be true to my heart,” he wrote. Waddell didn’t spend much time lamenting on social media.
