American Airlines teams up with Marvel's Avengers to raise awareness (and money) for cancer research

Marvel's Avengers save the world from a lot of things. Aliens, supervillains, robots... But despite having actual doctors and scientists among their ranks, they haven't (yet) cured cancer. So Marvel is expanding the superhero team-up to include Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) and Fort Worth-based carrier American Airlines for a PSA campaign.

The crown jewel of that campaign? A 50-foot long image that puts some of the Avengers shoulder-to-shoulder with American Airlines team members who have survive cancer and SU2C scientists who are fighting the disease. The aircraft, which made its debut on Monday, is an A321T that will be flying between LAX and JFK. Just in time for the theatrical of Avengers: Infinity War on Friday.

While a big graphic with comic book legends looks cool, the ultimate hope is that it will encourage people to visit StandUpToCancer.org/AmericanAirlines and donate money to SU2C, where 100 percent of the donation will go to their cancer research programs. As a bonus, American Airlines AAdvantage members will receive 10 miles for every dollar donated (after a minimum of $25).
