Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew invites 'Star Wars' fan's widow to his Texas home

The pop culture world was touched by the story of Daniel Fleetwood, the Spring, Texas resident whose dying wish was to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The #ForceForDaniel hashtag took social media by storm, and it was supported by several members of the movie's cast and crew. Among those cast members was fellow Texas resident Peter Mayhew, most famous for playing Han Solo's co-pilot Chewbacca in the Star Wars films.

Tragically, Daniel died in November, though not before he got to see an early cut of the latest Star Wars movie. His wife, Ashley, is keeping the #ForceForDaniel alive, and she and her family got a holiday gift from everybody's favorite Wookie: A chance to visit Mayhew's home, complete with its "Chewie Room."

Also on the trip were upstanding Star Wars fans of The Star Garrison of the 501st Legion, in costume, of course.

"The Mayhews were so kind and gracious," Ashley told Entertainment Tonight. "When Daniel was sick, they actually Skyped him. It was so sweet and amazing. They invited us to visit, but he was unable to travel. After he passed, they extended the invitation again. So I asked if, for my dads 60th birthday, if we could maybe visit. They said 'yes' and were so welcoming."
