Does he love me? No, but you don't have to be reminded with this Facebook tool

Remember when everyone on your Facebook saw if you changed your relationship status? Are you in a complicated relationship with the social media network over its algorithm resurfacing photos of your ex having the time of their life with another significant other?

Photos of your ex with a puppy. Blah. Photos of them holding hands on the beach. No thank you. Facebook memories bringing back photos from when you just started dating? Anything but that!

Luckily for those less lucky-in-love, Facebook is now testing a set of tools to help users moderate how much of their ex they see on the site.

Kelly Winters, a project manager at Facebook, explained what you'll be able to do with these tools in a press release:

News Roundups

Catch up on the day's news you need to know.

Or with:

  • See less of that person's name and picture without having to block or unfriend them.
  • Limit your status updates, pictures and videos shown to your former partner.
  • Edit past posts with them or untag yourself from photos with them.

The tools are being tested now and like most Facebook tools, they are optional to use.

"We hope these tools will help people end relationships on Facebook with greater ease, comfort and sense of control," Winters said.

Naheed Rajwani, a staff writer at The Dallas Morning News, has a particular talent for rewriting song lyrics to fit someone's birthday or recent news events. She graciously penned her rendition of Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" to reflect this new Facebook development:

"We Are Never Ever Taking Prof Pics Together"

I remember when we broke up on Facebook, the first time

Saying, "This is it, I've had enough," 'cause like

We hadn't tagged pics of each other in a month

When you said you needed space. (What?)

Then you FB message me again and say

"Baby, I miss you and I swear I'm gonna change, trust me."

Remember how that lasted for a day?

I say, "I hate you," we break up, you call me, "I love you."

Ooh, we changed relationship statuses again last night

But ooh, this time I'm telling you, I'm telling you

We are never ever ever taking prof pics together,

We are never ever ever taking prof pics together,

You go stalk your girlfriends, stalk my boyfriends, and stalk me

But we are never ever ever ever taking prof pics together
