That's right: Kermit and Miss Piggy are Splitsville. It's been a tough time for celebrity breakups, with Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, and Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton all announcing splits.
But this breakup, it cuts deep. After all, this is a romantic pairing we've all been rooting for since 1976. I don't want to accuse the esteemed frog and pig of milking something for publicity, but the breakup announcement did come during a press tour for new show The Muppets, which premieres Sept. 22 on ABC.
"Piggy and I have gone our separate ways romantically," Kermit said Tuesday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.
