In a growing pool of social media entertainers -- and yes, that's a thing! -- there were bound to be a few from the Lone Star State. Take a look at some Texans Internet stars who have left their mark in the social media world:

In the past years, gaming channels have really picked up speed on YouTube and carved out their own Internet niche. The Austin-based group Rooster Teeth, a video game development and production company, plays games (all while making humorous and NSFW commentary) and creates animated science-fiction videos.

He covers Top 40 hits, remixes Disney classics and produces hilarious web series. Arlington's Todrick Hall has a whopping 1.6 million subscribers to his YouTube channel, which has received more than 225 million views. He was even on American Idol.

Another group from Arlington has a more recognizable name. With more than 8 million subscribers on YouTube, the a cappella superstars in Pentatonix are making their mark both online and on tour. The singers recently made an appearance in Pitch Perfect 2.

Grav3yardgirl

Rachel "Bunny" Meyer, or Grav3yardgirl according to her YouTube channel, has amassed a following of more than 5 million subscribers, all from her bedroom in Pearland, Texas. She specializes in trying out TV products, making thrift hauls, doing paranormal vlogging and offering make-up tutorials.

BruhItsZach

Originally starting his Internet career on YouNow, a live-broadcasting website, Round Rock-native Zach Clayton just kicked off his YouTube career. He regularly answers fan questions and completes challenges like drinking colored milk, eating baby food with his mom and playing Truth or Dare.

Alex From Target

Alex From Target's rise to fame is one of the most impressive displays of the power of social media. Cute boy Alex Lee worked as a cashier at a Frisco Target and now he's riding the wave of Internet stardom thanks to the power of teenage girls on Twitter and Instagram.

Austin Mahone

San Antonio's own "Justin Bieber," Austin Mahone, actually got his start on YouTube, believe it or not. Years ago, a 14-year-old Mahone would upload Bieber covers. Today, 19-year-old Mahone is singing duets with Pitbull and selling out shows. He played concerts in the Dallas area in 2013 and 2014.
