Google now has an official 'Undo Send' option in Gmail; here's how to use it

You know that feeling when you notice a typo in your resume the second you hit "send" to e-mail it to a potential employer? Or the heart-sinking realization that you accidentally sent a private e-mail to Bob Shoemaker instead of Bob Shooter? Then Gmail's new feature, "Undo Send," is made for you.

The functionality isn't exactly new to those who desperately wanted it -- it's been available as a Google Labs add-on for years. But today Google announced that the functionality is ready for prime-time, and every user can find it in their Gmail settings.

Check the "Enable Undo Send" box and set how long you want the cancellation period to last.

Basically what this will do is delay the sending of your e-mail for the selected period of time, giving you an option to cancel the e-mail at the last second if you want to.

How does it work? Well, now, when you send a message, this yellow box will appear at the top of your screen:

If you realize you've made a mistake and want a do-over, just click "Undo" in that box and the e-mail will re-open, allowing you to make further changes to it.

Now you can send, undo, send and undo that love e-mail you've been struggling to write over and over again, keeping you busy for hours. Enjoy!
