Tyler Perry's Madea play is coming to Dallas during T.D. Jakes' MegaFest

Actor and filmmaker Tyler Perry will bring his new stage play, Madea on the Run, to Dallas in August for an appearance at Bishop T.D. Jakes' MegaFest. This marks the first major celebrity announcement for the 2015 MegaFest, which is returning to Dallas Aug.19-23.

The play, which began touring in March, will be the first Tyler Perry play ever staged at MegaFest, the nation's largest inspirational family festival. The plot follows Madea, played by Perry, as she goes on the run from local authorities and is forced to hide with her friend, Aunt Bam, played by Cassi Davis.

Featuring a new score written by Perry, the play will begin at 7 p.m., Friday Aug. 21 and will be held in the arena at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.

Tickets for Madea on the Run will be available at Ticketmaster for purchase separately from MegaFest ticket packages. Ticket prices were not available Friday morning.
