7 giant containers you could use for 7-Eleven's 'bring-your-own cup day' on Saturday

Perhaps you've never drank directly from the gallon-sized water cooler at work. There's a first time for everything.

Dallas-based 7-Eleven announced it will be celebrating BYO Cup Day on Saturday, April 11. For $1.49, you can fill your own container with Slurpee mix from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The "vast majority" of Dallas-area stores will participate, says a 7-Eleven spokesperson.

A few rules:

Catch up on the day's news you need to know.

Or with:

  • Cup must fit in the specified hole, which measures 10 inches in diameter. (See photo above.) So, no, a Dumpster is not an acceptable container.
  • Also not acceptable: inflatable swimming pools, says the press release.
  • The vessel must be sanitary.

If you're unsure if your container will fit, best bet is to bring a few. Bike helmets and plant pots are not off limits, says USA Today.
