You'll be forgiven for forgetting that back in January we announced that Serial's Sarah Koenig would be closing-day keynoting the second-ever Podcast Movement confab set to chat up a storm July 31-August 2 at the Omni Hotel in downtown Fort Worth. That's a good get, no doubt, especially since she'll be at the Winspear Opera House in the Dallas Arts District the very next night giving the same talk on "Binge-Worthy Journalism."

But moments ago Koenig got upstaged by the last-minute addition to the featured-speakers list: IFC's Marc Maron, otherwise known as The Only Podcaster to Interview President Obama. Maybe you heard about it. It made a few headlines.

Turns out, a local was supposed to deliver the Sunday-morning keynote -- Glenn Beck. But organizers say he had to withdraw because of the "health emergency" he disclosed earlier this week; his doctors have told him to take the month off from talking.  The announcement came days after Beck misstated a few "facts" about slavery during his weekend appearance at the Fellowship Church in Grapevine. Regardless, an upgrade. Like going from Southwest steerage to Qantas first-class.

Dan Franks, one of the Podcast Movement's organizers, knew they were up a creek when Beck broke the news  Monday. But, he says, "we had been talking to Marc's talent agency about him and other people for future events. When we found out about Glenn, an hour later I was on the phone with Marc's people. This is the peak of his demand after his interview with the president. And it was a totally Hail Mary pass. But you can't catch it unless you throw it."

Says Franks, Maron was easy to convince.

"He ended up being really excited about it, because this is something different," Franks says. "This isn't stand-up or a live podcast. This is an inside-baseball talk. It was a pretty quick get."

And an attention-getting get for a fledgling event that will also count among its speakers Aisha Tyler.

"The timing could not be better," says Franks. "It's just another thing that raises the profile."
