McKinney officer fatally shoots man whose mother said was threatening her, police say

The shooting happened about 4 p.m. Friday in the 3100 block of Medical Center Drive, police say.

McKinney police say an officer fatally shot a man Friday afternoon after the man’s mother reported he was threatening her.

Officers responded about 4 p.m. to a domestic disturbance in the 3100 block of Medical Center Drive, near Eldorado Parkway, after a woman reported her 30-year-old son was holding an ax and threatening her, police said in a tweet.

Police said the woman was able to get away safely and when the officers arrived at the Magnolia Ranch Apartments, they chased the suspect on foot. At some point, an officer shot and struck the man, police said.
