Frisco library to close during transition to new location

Patrons that still have items that were due on or before Nov. 14 can keep them until the new location opens in February.

The Frisco Public Library located inside the George A. Purefoy Municipal Building will permanently close at 6 p.m. Dec. 9, and will reopen Feb. 4 at its new location at 8000 Dallas Parkway.

A limited number of children’s items will be available at the library’s micro-location Connection at Stonebriar Centre, 2615 Preston Road, Suite 100. Patrons can return books and DVDs to book lockers at Connection and at the Frisco Athletic Center, 5828 Nancy Jane Lane.

Also available are digital newspapers and e-books, audiobooks and digital magazines on OverDrive.

Dec. 2 will be the last day to place a hold for an item. A list of questions and answers can be found on the library’s website.

In 2019, a $62 million bond was approved for relocation of the library. The new 150,000-square-foot space, which was once a rocket factory, will have abundant light with 40-foot glass windows, as well as a second-floor mezzanine, community event room and terrace.

Last month the library debuted its mascot Rexy, a 26-foot-tall and 42-feet-long Tyrannosaurus rex model skeleton.
