Vampire Weekend announces new album and massive tour with Dallas date

The guys will make their first trip through North Texas in six years on Sunday, Aug. 18, when the Father of the Bride tour brings them to the Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory in Irving.

To think it's been six years since Vampire Weekend's last album was released is shocking. But the Ezra Koenig-led indie-pop outfit has been making critics buzz since 2008 when they made a pop-culture splash with their self-titled debut album.

Known for their preppy charm and indie-rock take on Afrobeat-style pop tunes, Vampire Weekend recently announced not only a new album, Father of the Bride, but a massive new tour to go along with it. The guys will make their first trip through North Texas in six years on Sunday, Aug. 18, when the Father of the Bride tour brings them to the Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory in Irving.

Following a lengthy Instagram post from a couple of weeks ago, announcing plans for the new record, the band released two new songs that will be featured on the upcoming album last week. The jaunty, breezy "Harmony Hall" and the quirky pop nugget "2021" both fit in nicely within the band's previous work while feeling plenty fresh.
