Pentatonix's Texas singers pick favorite spots for fast-food and queso

The 10th stop on Pentatonix's nationwide tour was a hometown concert for Mitch Grassi, Scott Hoying and Kirstin Maldonado, who were raised in Arlington and attended Martin High School together. An hour before they took the stage, we talked to them about what they love to eat here in Texas.

Maldonado's favorite queso in Dallas-Fort Worth is from Chuy's, she told us. But it's a sore subject: Good queso is hard to find when you're not in Texas, the band says.

"I remember moving to LA, ordering queso and being like, 'I don't know what that is,'" Hoying says.

"Yeah, and they go, 'Oh, you're from Texas, aren't you?'" adds Maldonado.

It's obvious they love the food in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Hoying says his first pit stop when the tour hit Dallas was at Whataburger, which Grassi and Maldonado agree is a necessity. Hoying is also a fan of El Arroyo in Arlington, a place he used to sing as a kid. Maldonado loves the tortillas at Joe T. Garcia's in Fort Worth, and Grassi loves Spiral Diner, the popular vegan restaurant.

Kevin Olusola and Matt Sallee, the two other members of group, aren't from Texas, but they say they've sampled a bit and they like what they're tasting.

"The food is really good here, and I mean it," Sallee says. "I got to explore a little bit in Dallas and the food is really good."so
