Meet the up-and-coming Dallas rapper accompanying one of boxing's top fighters during his title fight

Errol Spence Jr. won't be the only Dallas native to be under the spotlight on Saturday night.

When Spence makes his way to the ring for his IBF welterweight title defense against Carlos Ocampo, one of the world's top boxers will be flanked by one of the city's hottest rappers.

Oak Cliff's Yella Beezy is slated to perform while Spence, who hails from DeSoto, makes his entrance at the Ford Center at The Star. The fight will be televised on Showtime.

"It's timing," said Big Hud, another Dallas rapper. "EJ (Spence) is blowing up. Yella's blowing up on a national level. It's like they'll both be on a national platform at the same time."

Beezy's single "That's On Me" has received a ton of play in Dallas and around the country. The track is currently 43rd on Billboard's R&B/hip hop airplay chart. He also recently cut a single featuring Lil Baby, who recently cut a single with Drake.

Spence's fight will be the first time a Dallas fighter is defending his title in the city since Curtis Cokes did it in 1968.

Beezy and Spence both intend to strike while their respective irons are hot. Spence wants to become boxing's unified welterweight champion. On Thursday, Hud said Beezy was in New York, talking to record companies.

"Now, he's the man," Hud said. "He's everywhere. It's crazy."
