Several artists with Texas ties were nominated for a BET Award when the nominations were announced Wednesday, May 16.

Beyonce is nominated for best collaboration for "Top Off," with Jay-Z, DJ Khaled and Future. El Paso's Khalid was nominated for best male R&B/pop artist. 

Two Texans are nominated for the Dr. Bobby Jones best gospel/inspirational award. Lecrae, who lays claim to both Dallas and Houston, was nominated for "I'll Find You," his collaboration with Tori Kelly. North Texan Kirk Franklin was nominated along with Ledisi for "If You Don't Mind."

Plano's Marsai Martin (Blackish) is nominated for the young stars award. And Dallas Wings point guard Skylar Diggins-Smith is nominated as sportswoman of the year.

DJ Khaled led with six nominations. Kendrick Lamar, who recently won a Pulitzer, is right behind him with five.

 The awards go across 19 categories and honor entertainers, artists and athletes. The awards will be Sunday, June 24, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
