Plan ahead: St. Vincent, Foo Fighters and more D-FW concerts you don't want to miss in 2018

Update Nov. 6 at 10:06 a.m.: Two more big-name bands announced plans to perform in Dallas-Fort Worth next year. The indomitable St. Vincent comes to The Bomb Factory in Deep Ellum on Saturday, Feb. 24 on her Fear the Future Tour. The Dallas-raised musician (real name: Annie Clark) recently released a new album entitled Masseduction, which is equal parts artful, honest and awesome. Tickets to the show cost $39-$169.

On April 25, 2018, Queens of the Stone Age bring their extended Villains World Tour to Toyota Music Factory in Irving, with support from Wolf Alice. The tour primarily supports the band's latest album by the same name, but fans can expect to hear the classics as well, according to previous show reviews. Tickets range $35-$59.50.

Tickets to both see both St. Vincent and Queens of the Stone Age go on sale Friday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m.

You're not ready to talk about the holidays, much less the turn of the year. We get it. But music venues big and small in Dallas-Fort Worth are already slinging tickets to the hottest concerts in 2018.

It's time to start planning.

Just before Halloween 2018 -- yes, more than a year away -- D-FW will welcome back body shape-lover Ed Sheeran and his arena-folk bit to the biggest arena we have, AT&T Stadium. It came on the heels of Sheeran's sold-out August American Airlines Center show in Dallas this fall. Also coming in 2018: Lizzie Grant, better known as dream-pop songstress Lana Del Rey, will visit the AAC in February, followed a month later by the more talented of the Oasis brothers, Noel Gallagher, supporting his upcoming album Who Built the Moon? at the Majestic Theatre in downtown Dallas in March.

The biggest venues in town are already stocking their 2018 schedules with concerts by mega-stars Lorde, Katy Perry and Shania Twain, each of who will bring their popular tours to Dirk's House in Dallas. But don't bypass the concerts coming to D-FW's best clubs, either.

In January alone, traditional honky-tonk queen Margo Price will visit the Kessler Theater in Dallas; California psych-rock band Black Rebel Motorcycle Club is coming to the Granada Theater in Dallas; songwriting legend John Hiatt will swing by the House of Blues in Dallas; and Bon Iver makes its first return to Big D since its transcendent concert at the Winspear Opera House back in 2011.

Plenty of big 2017 tours have yet to announce a North Texas date, too, so it's reasonable to think that 2018 will bring the Dave Grohl-led Foo Fighters to town for their first Dallas date in many years as well as the first local stop for the most thrillingly sad band around, the National, which is currently touring in support of yet another stunning record, Sleep Well Beast. Pearl Jam has been slowly announcing 2018 appearances amid rumors of a new record. Oh, and our old neighbor Annie Clark, a.k.a. St. Vincent, is set to release a new album soon. She hasn't announced a Dallas date thus far in 2017, so that's a good sign for us in 2018.
