Video of Tejano singer Selena discovered in TV camera donated to Smithsonian

A video featuring Selena Quintanilla has resurfaced 22 years after the legendary queen of Tejano was killed.

The Tejano USA interview shows Selena in April 1994 at San Antonio's Hemisfair Park before she performed at the Texas Live Music Festival.

In the video, the singer reveals how she had a "huge knot in her stomach" at the 1994 Grammys where she won Best Mexican-American album. She also mentions her cameos in the telenovela Dos Mujeres, Un Camino.

The footage was found in a TV camera donated to the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History Spanish-language television project by Univision.

"Big year, Selena," the interviewer says. "El Grammy. Una cosa, yo creo, [one thing, I think] that was like a dream come true, verdad [right]?"

"Exactly," the singer says with a smile. "When they first told us that we were nominated we all freaked out, we couldn't believe it. ... The first thing that came to mind is that I need to take a camera so I can take pictures with all of these stars. It didn't hit me till later when I thought, 'Oh my God. What if we win, you know?'

"We're just so happy with what's happened. So many good things have been happening since we won the music awards and it's been great. It's been really great."

Less than a year later, the 23-year-old star was shot and killed at a Corpus Christi motel by a woman who was embezzling money from Selena's fan club.
