Want to hear Neon Indian's new single? You have to call this number

Listeners received a teaser to Neon Indian's new album in May when former Dentonite Alan Palomo released single "Annie," but no one was sure when they'd get anything more.

Thank the electro-pop gods! We now have another track, album release date and local concert announcement.

Neon Indian announced it's forthcoming album, entitled Vega INTL Night School, with a really cool call-in promo. Dial 512-643-8342 (VEGA) and you'll be picked up by a voicemail message that informs callers the album drops Oct. 16. Call from a cell phone and you'll receive a link to stream a second single, "Slumlord," via text.

Or you can skip the novelty entirely and listen to it below. But that's no fun!

Or with:

"Most of what I've learned about human nature in my twenties has happened after dark," Palomo said of the new album in a statement obtained by Pitchfork. "People are just kind of more honest then. More deliberate. I like to call the places I go to Night Schools."

Neon Indian will be swinging through The Bomb Factory in Dallas on Oct. 1 prior to the album's release and will return to the Lone Star State in November for Austin's Fun Fun Fun Fest. It's a Red Bull Sound Select Show, too, which means tickets will be dirt cheap; like $3 cheap! But you have to RSVP.

Wait, this sounds familiar. Ah yes, Parquet Courts, another product of the Denton music scene, is also releasing a new album this fall and hitting Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios in Denton before Fun Fun Fun Fest. It seems great North Texas bands do think alike.
