'Listening' Episode 2: The legacies of Dr. Dre, Spector 45, Robert Johnson and more

Time again to grab those headphones. The theme of the second episode of my new music podcast is legacy. It's concerned with what artists, both legendary and local, leave behind for future generations.

I start by discussing Dr. Dre's new album, Compton, including the involvement of local rapper and songwriter Justin Mohrle (aka Justus). I also go inside the rehearsals for an upcoming reunion show by Deep Ellum punk band Spector 45 five years after the tragic suicides of two of its members. There's also a visit to 508 Park, the downtown Dallas building where bluesman Robert Johnson recorded iconic songs. Finally, the DMN's Dawn Burkes discusses five legacy artists who've captured her 6-year-old daughter's imagination.

Hit play below to listen (I hope to be on iTunes soon for those of you who prefer that method, so be patient, please.)
