Dallas' Don Henley to bring 'Cass County' tour to Grand Prairie in October

Don Henley, a Dallas singer-songwriter of note who used to be in a band called The Eagles, has been working on a country record for several years. Some of his first solo record in 15 years was recorded in Dallas; some, in Nashville. Titled Cass County, it will feature several recognizable names, among them Miranda Lambert, Dolly Parton, Merle Haggard, Martina McBride, Alison Krauss, Vince Gill and that beloved C&W legend Mick Jagger. Oh -- and the great Chris Holt, who is now Henley's lead guitar player.

Two tracks are available for purchase now, with the entirety of the record due September 25. A few days later, on October 3, Henley will kick off his tour in Phoenix. Two weeks after that, on October 15, Henley will play Dallas ... or, well, close enough: the Verizon Theatre at Grand Prairie. Shawn Colvin will open. (Long ago, at Starplex, Henley had Susanna Hoffs open, and it was fantastic.)

You can hear a sneak from the record below. Says Henley about making a country record, well, of course he's gonna make a country record: "I was born and raised in Texas. I'm a Southerner and a Texan. So this is a natural progression for me. It's who I am and where I come from."
