Photos: Dancing shoes get muddy at SXSW's Hype Hotel day party in Austin

AUSTIN — The rain on Saturday afternoon made for slippery, muddy entrances and exits at the warehouse environs of Hype Machine's Hype Hotel party on 5th Street east of I-35. But that didn't keep the free-fun-seeking daytime festers from showing up in droves. Each partygoer who RSVP'd and picked up a wristband in time was treated to an impressive slate of DJs, as well as plenty of tickets for free drinks. We heard a few people remark that while the mud made the outdoor and entrance areas extra gross, they were still glad they showed up. Drink tickets go a long way. Here are a few shots of the gritty fun from photographer Ashley Landis, who worked around the clock this week to get many compelling shots from SXSW.
