Prepare for Mystikal, Juvenile and two of Houston’s finest at May’s Boom 94.5 Music Festival

I'm still hearing constant raves from fellow Dallasites about the changed-up format at 94.5 FM on the radio dial. The infectious "classic hip-hop" that makes up The Boom's playlist gives morning drivers plenty of motivation, 'tis true.

But will that enthusiasm for the station's throwback tunes transfer to ticket sales for Fair Park's just announced Boom 94.5 Music Festival? Look at the lineup and you'll feel the yes forming on your lips.

First of all, we're talking iconic New Orleans rappers Juvenile and Mystikal - two men whose influence can still be detected all over the charts. Mystikal is back in the spotlight himself after knocking the Mark Ronson track "Feel Right" out of the park. Even more important for Texas rap connoisseurs, Houston legends Bun B and Scarface will also be part of the daylong bill on May 2.

The classic hip-hop slate is part of a larger celebration of Southern styles. Zydeco and blues will get their special spotlight as Step Rideau, Brian Jack, Mel Waiters and Sir Charles Jones round out the day's entertainment. Tickets for the fest will be $25 (or $30 on the day of the event), but there's an $18 online presale going on until March 6. For more information about the festival and tickets, visit The Boom's site or call 972-331-5500.
