Here are all the North Texas teens and drag queens up for tonight's MTV Movie and TV Awards

The votes are in for the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards, which air Monday night at 8, and this year's list of nominees includes a sizable number of Lone Star stars, some of which come from right here in the Metroplex.

Marsai Martin is one of them. The 14-year-old actress hails from Little Elm and is up for Best Comedic Performance for her part in Little, the 2019 film on which she also received a production credit. Not bad for the young star who told The Dallas Morning News four years ago that she was still getting used to life on the red carpet.

"I get nervous because I love these people and I see them on TV all the time, but I've never really talked to them before," Martin said. "I'm still trying to get more comfortable with interviews and stuff because I don't know what to say."

Grand Prairie-raised drag queen Asia O'Hara is up for some recognition, too, albeit in one of the ceremony's more infamous categories: Most Meme-able Moment. She clinched her spot on the nominee list during the season 10 finale of RuPaul's Drag Race, when, during her Janet Jackson lip sync, a handful of live butterflies she'd planned to release from inside her costume refused to participate in the performance. The ensuing TV camera shots of her panicked expression, the crowd's puzzled reaction, and the butterflies themselves - motionless and indifferent to all the drama - made for great online material.

Outside of North Texas, Austin actress Amber Heard made the cut for Best Kiss on account of her lip-locking moment with co-star Jason Momoa in Aquaman.

And Houston's own Lizzo, though she isn't up for any awards, is set to perform during the program.

Shazam! star Zachary Levi will host the show beginning at 8 p.m. on its namesake channel, MTV. mtv.com.
