See the original Star Wars trilogy on the big screen at Majestic Theatre in Dallas in August

A dollar of each ticket sale will support the charity started by the late actor who played Chewbacca.

The Majestic Theatre is tripling down on Star Wars this August with showings of each movie in the original trilogy: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. All three films probably would've played at the theater back when they first came out had it not closed down in 1973, four years before A New Hope was released.

Patience has its virtues, though, and the version of A New Hope screening Aug. 4 is the special edition re-release. The Empire Strikes Back hits the Majestic's big screen a week and a half later on Aug. 15, followed by Return of the Jedi on Aug. 18.

Tickets for each film are on sale now for $10, a dollar of which goes to support the Peter Mayhew Foundation. Mayhew, the 7-foot-3 London-born actor who played Chewbacca in the original trilogy as well as the 2005 prequel Revenge of the Sith and 2015 sequel The Force Awakens, died at his home in North Texas at the end of last month, but the organization he founded continues to support charitable causes in his absence. In recent years, he had lived in Boyd, about 20 miles northwest of Fort Worth.
