Now that you've caught your breath after the USA and Dallas International film festivals, it's time to get ready for the next one.
The reliably eccentric Oak Cliff Film Festival, running June 14-17, has announced its lineup, and it's stocked with the kind of quality fare that has defined OCFF from its start in 2011.
Here's some of what's in store:
Never Goin' Back, Dallas native Augustine Frizzell's comedy about two Garland teens who throw caution to the wind, with mixed results.
Damsel, a wacky revisionist Western starring Robert Pattinson and Mia Wasikowska.
Hal, a documentary on one of the great unsung filmmakers of the '70s Hollywood renaissance, Hal Ashby.
Half the Picture, a documentary on the challenges women face breaking into the Hollywood directing ranks.
The Passion of Joan of Arc, Carl Theodor Dreyer's silent masterpiece, accompanied by a live orchestral score. (If you've never seen a silent film with live musical accompaniment, you really should.)
The festival will take place at the Texas Theatre and other Oak Cliff venues. For more information, visit oakclifffilmfestival.com.
