The British are coming (and man do they know how to play Americans)

Maybe it's the classical training, or the discipline, or the luck of the draw. Whatever the reasons, British actors have a bloody good knack for playing Americans.

Maybe it's the classical training, or the discipline, or the luck of the draw. Whatever the reasons, British actors have a bloody fine knack for playing Americans.

Examples are too many count. But the most recent evidence is the new Kathryn Bigelow movie, Detroit. Three of the main speaking parts - a sadistic cop (Will Poulter), a conflicted security guard (John Boyega) and a goodtime Ohio girl (Hannah Murray) - are handled by English actors. With the exception of Boyega, who rocketed to fame in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, I would never have known this without looking it up.

I guess that why they call it...acting! (paging Master Thespian). Next up: Daniel Craig as a West Virginia yokel safecracker in the new Steven Soderbergh caper Logan Lucky.
