Salute the 50th anniversary of Bonnie and Clyde by seeing it on the big screen at the Angelika Film Center on Wednesday, Jan. 11.
Warren Beatty played Clyde Barrow and then-newcomer Faye Dunaway played Bonnie Parker in the Arthur Penn movie (1967, 111 mins., violent) that played fast and loose with the story of the infamous outlaw couple. (Both are from Dallas, though Parker was born in Rowena.) The Dallasites always found time to visit home during their two-year crime spree in the 1930s.
Spoiler alert: Barrow and Parker are buried in Dallas.
And Barrow's criminal career has more than a few notches here, too. Parts of the film, which ushered in a new type of gangster movie, were shot in Texas.
The movie received 10 Oscar nominations, winning two. The screening starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8. Buy them at the box office, 5321 E. Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, or online at AngelikaFilmCenter.com.
