When last we heard from Dallas native Amy Talkington, she had published the Gothic YA novel Liv, Forever. But her first love is film, and now she's busy getting her work back to the screen.

As Deadline recently reported, Talkington's script for a musical adaptation of the 1983 romantic comedy Valley Girl is set to be directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg. In October, the Austin Film Festival mounted a staged reading of another new Talkington screenplay, Ice Queens. That one is about the made-for-tabloid rivalry between figure skaters Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan.

Talkington, the daughter of Dallas historic preservationist and author Virginia McAlester, is ecstatic about Valley Girl. "Valley Girl will not die," she posted on Facebook. "In fact, it's, like, totally happening (& with a rad female director)!"
