Marvel teases Black Panther, Spider-Man and more, casts Captain Marvel at Comic Con

While DC's showing of Justice League and Wonder Woman may have stolen the day, it was Marvel Studios who captured last night's Hall H panel at Comic Con. The studio dropped some new details on its upcoming film slate, including Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Black Panther and Thor: Ragnarok, and showed footage for Spider-Man Homecoming, Doctor Strange and more.

Though not all of the footage or trailers were shown to the public, there are some pretty hefty descriptions of what was shown or announced. Check out all of the details below.

Doctor Strange hits theaters in November 4 and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Mads Mikkelson.

Black Panther

Marvel assembled a truly stacked cast of talent to represent Black Panther at Comic Con, including lead Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o and director Ryan Coogler (Creed).

Jordan was revealed to be playing Erik Killmonger, a classic Panther villain, and Nyong'o will play Nakia, a Wakandan badass. New to the cast is Danai Gurira, most known for playing Michonne on The Walking Dead, and she'll play Okoye, part of the same group as Nakia. Black Panther hits theaters next year.

Thor: Ragnarok

After teasing The Hulk's infamous gladiator armor on the show floor at Comic Con, concept art for the character was shown off during Marvel's presentation. Also shown was a quirky little video clip showing what Thor was doing during Civil War. Turns out, he was trying to live a normal life.

Concept art was also shown for Hela, Surtur and Fenris, classic Thor villains. Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba, Mark Ruffalo and Cate Blanchett, and releases next year.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

The apparent footage from the upcoming Spidey film sounds like it may have been the coolest thing here, opening with a high school yearbook photo montage of characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Cap's from the '40s.

Then there was some footage of Peter in class, thriving in a world that talks about The Avengers. We're introduced to Zendaya's and Martin Starr's characters, a classmate and teacher, though neither are named. The footage apparently closes with a shot of The Vulture, who may or may not be Michael Keaton.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Director James Gunn brought the cast of the upcoming film onto the stage, including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista and Michael Rooker. New footage for the film was shown, which includes a toddler Groot fighting, Yondu looking for his classic fin, and the Ravagers being, well, Ravagers.

Oh, and they confirmed that not only is Kurt Russell playing Star-Lord's dad, but he's Ego, The Living Planet. Huh.

Man, it's a shame they didn't release this one to the public. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters next year.

Captain Marvel

And, of course, to close out the show, Kevin Fiege gathered everyone for a family photo. So it was only natural that he'd introduce Captain Marvel, played by Room and Short Term 12's Brie Larson. Captain Marvel hits theaters in 2019.
