Updated: Alamo Drafthouse reportedly moving into Lake Highlands

Indie movie theater Alamo Drafthouse will reportedly be opening another North Texas location, this one in Lake Highlands, according to The Advocate.

Mark Hajdu, of property broker Triumph, confirmed the long-rumored deal, which puts Alamo in a former Tom Thumb space near Skillman and Abrams roads, to The Advocate. Alamo Drafthouse itself has yet to confirm the news.

"The lease is fully executed. Architects are engaged. The money has changed hands. That's when you know things are really real," Hadju told the pub.

Expected open date is April 1, 2017.

The new movie theater will house nine screens and 875 seats, according to Dallas Morning News. It will also have a Vetted Well bar and restaurant onsite.

The Lake Highlands location would make the fourth in Dallas-Fort Worth behind Alamo Drafthouse theaters in Richardson and Dallas, and one under construction in Las Colinas' forthcoming Music Factory development. Moviegoers love the company for its zero-tolerance policy on cellphone use, as well as its menu of eats and drinks.

Each Alamo Drafthouse location has an onsite bar and restaurant. In Richardson, it's the Glass Half Full Taproom. In the Cedars, franchisee Bill DiGaetano took the experience on step further with Vetted Well, a 5,000-square-foot eatery with expansive patios, cocktails and karaoke rooms.
