Here's the first trailer for 'Warcraft,' the fantasy film based on the hit game series

After a long wait, Legendary Pictures and Blizzard Entertainment are finally ready to show the world a glimpse of the upcoming Warcraft movie.

While the live-action movie, directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) actually finished filming back in May 2014, it's a very CG-heavy flick. All the time between then and the film's release day on June 10, 2016 has gone into making the world of Azeroth -- and its orcs -- look good.

We've seen a few still images, but you can see the first tangible fruits of all that animation labor in the trailer below.

If you ask me, it looks OK! I don't know if its technical spectacle will win over audiences the same way Avatar did, but I've got a lot of room in my heart for a good fantasy movie, and this could fit that bill.

Part of me is surprised that it's taken this long for a Warcraft movie to be made. Millions of people have played the best-selling online game World of Warcraft, and the series' lore extends far beyond that with the original strategy games, not to mention novels set in the universe.
