The first 'Angry Birds' movie trailer is colorful, not very angry

Few mobile games (heck, few video games in general) have become as ubiquitous as Angry Birds. The simple "throw birds at blocks and pigs" gameplay made it a massive hit on smartphones, and the popularity quickly expanded into toys, clothes, spin-offs and more. Now it's being adapted into an animated movie featuring the voices of Jason Sudeikis, Danny McBride and Josh Gad, among others.

Sony Pictures claims that, "In this hilarious 3D adventure, we'll finally find out why the birds are so angry." Thank God. That question has been bothering me since the beginning and fan theories just weren't cutting it.

It would be easy to write this movie off as arriving too late. The Angry Birds fad was huge, but its popularity seems to be fading. However, Angry Birds 2 was released as a free download earlier this year, and within days it was downloaded more than 10 million times. Within a week that number was 20 million. So people still seem to care about Angry Birds in some form. The question is whether or not this movie will deliver something satisfying.
