Sylvester Stallone chooses Dallas' Heritage Auctions to sell his Rocky, Rambo keepsakes

For more than a year Oak Lawn-HQ'd Heritage Auctions has been helping Sylvester Stallone sort through his estimable mountain of mementos for a coming-soon sale. Till this morning, the whole op's been well-contained -- a "tightly protected state secret," says one Heritage official. But now it's official: Stallone's ready to offload everything anyone would want -- from John Rambo's jacket and poncho to Rocky Balboa's boxing trunks, gloves, robe and motorcycle.

You can sneak-peek the sale on Heritage's site, where they've just posted a video in which Sly shuffles down Amnesia Lane while going through the warehouse. In it he pulls on Rocky's leather jacket, seen in the first film, and notices it's a bit more snug than it used to be. He also finds the entirety of the outfit he sported in Demolition Man -- "by the way," he says, "a really good action film, a little ahead of its time at the time, but really great."

Heritage says more details will be revealed tomorrow. But this much is certain: Some proceeds from the sale will be going toward military charities.

"I saw the John Wayne auction, and I thought it would have been so much more effective if John Wayne had still been alive so he could explain to his fans what some of his pieces meant to him," Stallone tells the Associated Press. "I'm not that young, but still aware enough to appreciate the people that will appreciate owning [these items]."

The collection will be auctioned off in Los Angeles in October, but, as always, the items will be stored at Heritage's Dallas home base. Accordingly there will be a local preview September 19-22 at Heritage's Design District Annex at 1518 Slocum Street.

It's not clear if he's selling anything from Bananas or Over the Top. I've had my eye on a certain sleeveless denim shirt since, like, forever.
