Needing a staycation? Marathon old 'Vacation' movies on AMC this Friday

Feelings are mixed on whether new movie Vacation feels like work or play. I liked its silly mindlessness; my colleagues didn't agree.

The new movie starring Ed Helms and Christina Applegate comes, of course, from a series featuring the dysfunctional Griswold family. Vacation -- in theaters Friday, July 31 -- is the 32 years later sequel to National Lampoon's Vacation starring Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo. (We watched that one recently; comedy has seriously changed since the '80s.)

If it's been a minute since you watched the Griswolds many grisly attempts at family fun, AMC is offering you a vacation right on your couch. Tune in Friday, July 31 for this marathon run of the Vacation series:
