John Green's first celebrity crush and more fun facts from our 'Paper Towns' interview

When I asked John Green, Nat Wolff and Halston Sage where they would like to go on a road trip and who they would take with them, Green and Wolff counted to three before replying in unison, "the Grand Canyon!"

"We would also take Halston," Green added as if it were an afterthought.

At that moment, Green and Wolff seemed like a natrual fit for a buddy cop comedy.

Green has been capturing the hearts of readers for awhile now with novels like Looking for Alaska and An Abundance of Katherines, but he's been taking Hollywood by storm since the adaptation of his bestseller The Fault in Our Stars hit theaters in 2014. Now he's back with another adaptation, Paper Towns, which comes out on July 24.

Green and a couple of the movie's stars, Wolff and Sage, came through Dallas as part of the Paper Town tour. (Another star, Cara Delevingne was also scheduled to appear but, like her character in Paper Towns, she was missing.) Hundreds of fans lined up at The Bomb Factory hours before the stars were schedule to even arrive.

I interviewed the trio in the morning, before the fan event. We briefly discussed the story itself before going off on a lot of tangents, like the road trip question above. I also learned about their favorite superheroes (Sage said Wonder Woman), their guilty pleasure foods (turns out they rarely feel guilty about eating) and their first celebrity crushes.

You can find more in the video interview above. We'll have more from the Paper Towns Tour fan event later, and a full review of the Paper Towns movie next week.
