Reserve seats at new dine-in movie theater, coming to Flower Mound July 10

Residents in Flower Mound and McKinney will soon have a new place to catch a flick, meal and cocktail.

Moviehouse and Eatery is opening two new locations in D-FW, which will be the third and fourth statewide. The company opened its first theater in Austin in 2012 before expanding to Keller in November 2014. Crews have been hard at work on the one in Flower Mound, which is slated to open on July 10. They broke ground in McKinney in April, but that theater won't be ready until 2016, says Mark McLaughlin, Moviehouse's director of operations.

Flower Mound's new 44,000-square-foot Moviehouse features eight screens and a collective 875 plush, reclinable seats. Screens, which stretch wall-to-wall, have 3-D capabilities as well as high frame rate capabilities, when available.

Every Moviehouse features a restaurant serving a variety of apps, pizzas, salads and sandwiches. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the weekends, the restaurant also serves brunch. All food comes from a scratch kitchen, meaning chefs make almost everything in-house, from the bread and pizza dough to the smoked meats and dressings, McLaughlin says. (See the full menu here.)

Those of drinking age aren't left out either since Moviehouse includes a lounge with full bar and local craft beers. The one in Flower Mound will have 21 draft taps as well as seating for 100 people.

One unique thing about the Moviehouse experience is reserved seating. When moviegoers purchase tickets online, they are able to select exactly which seats they will sit in. Patrons can print tickets at home or pull them up on their smartphone, so when they come to the theater, they can bypass the box office all together.

"It's like making dinner reservations for your movie," McLaughlin says.

Though it's not required, McLaughlin encourages people to buy tickets online ahead of time and reserve seats. Showings often sell out and there may not be spots together for those who wait to purchase at the box office, he says.

Ticket prices for all shows before 12:01 p.m. daily start at $7.50 for children under 12 and $9.50 for adults. Tickets for all other daily screenings start at $12. Military personnel may  buy tickets for $9.50 at any time.

Moviehouse and Eatry is a "family-centric brand," McLaughlin says, which is why the company targets residential areas with high concentrations of families. The theater hosts kids camps and free movie screenings during the summer.

McLaughlin says Moviehouse is looking at "a lot of dirt" for other potential locations in North Texas, but couldn't divulge any further details about where they might land. The McKinney location will be slightly bigger than Flower Mound's with 10 screens.

Moviehouse and Eatery in Flower Mound will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 12 a.m.
