(Dallas International Film Festival)

This week on The Big Screen we make like James Brown and give the drummer some. A whole bunch of drummers, actually. John Bryant is a longtime member of the Dallas percussion ensemble D'Drum. He's also the writer, director, producer and editor of Dare to Drum, a new documentary about D'Drum's historic collaboration with Police drummer Stewart Copeland and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. We sat down with Bryant to talk about the project and the film that chronicles it. You can listen to our conversation here, and you can check out the film at the Dallas International Film Festival, 7 p.m. Thursday and 3 p.m. Saturday at the Angelika Dallas.
