'America,' tweets Jeb Bush; 'Uh, no,' Twitter replies

Tuesday afternoon, Twitter blew up in response to a tweet from presidential candidate Jeb Bush. It was a very simple tweet -- just one word and one image. But that word was "America" and that image was of a handgun. A handgun with Bush's name engraved on it.

The Internet's response was swift. There was, of course, the serious commentary that related to politics, gun violence in America, the current state of the GOP, etc. All that stuff is fine.

But why talk about those when the majority of social media was actually just jokes? Everybody was quick to post their own "America" tweets with images of their own. Some clever. Some not safe for work. Some that tried too hard. But all in all, it was a cultural phenomenon worth witnessing.
